What james is trying to say is that if you do right people will remember that and if you do wrong it will stick with you forever. For example Hitler did wrong by killing millions of people and he's going down through history as the man who killed many innocent people. Also if you do the right people will know that you are reliable and trustworthy and you will make a lot of friends that way.
